Japan is an island nation in East Asia Located in the Pacific Ocean, it lies to the east of the Sea of Japan, China, North Korea, South Korea and Russia, stretching from the Sea of Okhotsk in the north to the East China Sea and Taiwan in the south.
The precipitation in Japan is quite light, but the islands usually develop deep snow banks during the wintertime. Northwest winter winds bring a tremendous amount of snowfall from the Sea of Japan area around the west coast. Although during the summertime, the region is immensely cooler than the Pacific Area, though it sometimes experiences extremely hot temperatures. The Central Highland has a typical inland climate, with huge temperature differences between summer and winter, and between day and night; precipitation is lighter, in comparison. During the summertime, the average temperature is approximately 25 degrees Celsius, while during the wintertime; the typical temperature in Japan is 5 degrees Celsius.

On March 11, 2011 a record-breaking earthquake produced a 23-foot tsunami that hit Japan’s eastern coast. The enormous quake stretched as far as Tokyo, hundreds of miles from its original epicenter of Sendai. As of March 18, 2011 the death toll reached 7,197 people due to the quakes massive sweep over the coast’s houses, centers, boats, etc. Sadly, the numbers keep rising. One of Japan’s nuclear power plants was disabled and since then has been causing troubles to the civilians. The parts of Fukushima Dai-ichi’s reactors have experienced fires, explosions, and radiation leaks. Low levels of radiation spread as far as Tokyo. The government has evacuated citizens living near the plant. Although there is a risk of radiation spreading throughout Japan, U.S. navy and others are still doing all they can to help cool the reactors and keep people safe
I chose Japan because it was recently hit by a very deadly earthquake so i wanted to know more about this country
