General Information

Some important facts to mention are:

There are 3 offical languages spoken in Belgium. They are Dutch (Flemish), French, and German. It is estimated that about half the population speaks Dutch and about 40% speak French. There are not many people that speak German in Belgium. So,Canada and Belgium do have something in common after all. They both have French as one of their offical languages. But as it seems, Canada and Belgium have their differences. Belgium has a very different climate, natural resources and industries to Canada. The population is also very different. As you can see in the list above, Belgium has a population of about 10,839,905. While, Canada has a population of about 33,739,900. But, the size of the country should also be considered. Belgium is a small country with a huge population. And, Canada is a massive country with an alright population.

Climate

Belgium has a climate consisting of cool summers and warm winters. It receives evenly distributed precipitation throughout the year. It is also very humid and cloudy.

Whereas, in Canada, the climate overall consist of cold winters and moderate summers. But, the climate depends on what landscape of Canada you are talking about. For example, in the North, there are very cold temperatures that can lead to permafrost and it has low chances of precipitation. And the Canadian Shield has a climate consisting of short warm summers and long cold winters with a lot of precipitation. As, you can see that the climate in Canada varies across the country. But, it is also very clear that Belgium and Canada have very different climates.

Natural Resources and Industries

Some natural resources in Belgium include silica sands (mining for coals, diamonds),carbonates and construction materials.Belgium has a very strong dependance on its natural resources. However, Canada's natural resources are very different from Belgium. They include fish, oil (fossil fuels), metals (iron ore, nickel, zinc, copper, gold, lead), timber and etc. Most of the main imports of Belgium are machinery and equipment, oil products, raw materials, chemicals, transport equipment, and foodstuffs. So, it only makes sense that some of the major industries of Belgium are engineering, processed foods and beverages, petroleum, motor vehicle assembly and textiles/glass. Belgium mostly trades with European states like the Netherlands, United Kingdom, Germany, France for many of their main imports. So, Canada isn't a major import partner for Belgium.
