South Korea is located in Eastern Asia and borders the Sea Of Japan, and the Yellow Sea. It is the southern half of the Korean Peninsula.

Approximately 80% of the Korean Peninsula is enclosed by mountains and South Korea is mostly rugged mountainous terrain. South Korea is mainly divided into 5 regions; 1.) The Central Region, 2.) the Eastern littoral, 3.) The Naktong River Basin, 4.) The Southern littoral, 5.) The southern mountain and valley regions. The only flat plain regions of South Korea are located along the coastline.
