Although South Korea may seem like a country with very few environmental issues, this is far from true. South Korea in fact has an immeasurable amount of serious environmental issues. Some of these issues include deforestation, pollution/climate change and Erosion. Firstly, deforestation has been a major issue for over centuries, since South Korea’s inhabitants have been cutting down the most ancient Korean forests, except for a few remote mountainous locations. However, South Korea now has many reforestation programs. Also, pollution and climate change is another serious issue when it comes to South Korea’s environmental issues. Air pollution is a serious concern with most major cities because more than 80% of South Koreans live in urban areas. Last but not least, ever since the disappearance of the South Korean forests, there has been serious soil erosion throughout the country, resulting in flooding. These are only a few of the major environmental issues in South Korea.
